Vocabulary Explosion!

Sweet Pea finally said her name on Saturday. Shocked my socks off. I'd just about given up hope that she'd ever progress past, Mama, Dada, Bye, Bee and No.

Then today she popped out with this gem....

"All aboard the choo-choo train."

Yeah. Just like I typed it and not just once, but several times.

I have only myself to blame. I have a cold that's kept me down the last two days so the kids have watched a couple of DVD's quite a few times. (Read more times than I dare to count.)

One of them is Choo_Choo_Soul. We have the CD/DVD set from Target and the girls both LOVE IT!!!

Anyway, Sweet Pea seems to have an affinity for trains now. It's only fitting since her Great, Great Grandpa worked on the railroads many, many moons ago.

Monitor Mondays

In an effort to post a bit more regularly I'm going to try to make note of the silly things I over hear on the baby monitor. I may need to get a tape recorder so that I can transcribe some of the funnier episodes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's offering actually took place yesterday morning.
Sweet Pea was awake and as she doesn't really talk yet all I could hear were her happy noises, bouncing and giggling on the monitor.
All of the sudden this sleepy voice says,
"Be quiet Sweet Pea, I'm trying to sleep in my "big girl" bed."
They say the darnedest things, I wonder how long I can continue to eavesdrop on them with the monitor?
Saturday Seven!
Okay, if anyone's still with me after yesterday, here's some light reading!
I'm calling this the "Saturday Seven".
Seven things over the last week that my girls did that just tickled me. Fun stuff, sappy stuff, giggly stuff. You get the idea.
1- Miss Bee told Sweet Pea to "Suck it up!". I am guilty of telling my 2 year old to "suck it up" when she's crying and I know she's mad at me. Wednesday morning I heard my words come out of her mouth. I had to bite my lip from laughing out loud. Apparently Miss Bee had had enough of Sweet Pea's crying and wanted her to get over it already.
2- Miss Bee parading around with a long stem red rose...wielding it like a sword. Nuff said.
3- Sweet Pea blowing raspberries and flipping her fingers across her mouth. She makes this funny buzzing sound. Awesome!
4- The fact that somehow Miss Bee can get peanut butter off of very ripe banana slices without mangling the banana. She's very proud of this skill.
5- I'm raising future Wal-mart greeters. My girls have never met a stranger. They greet everyone with waves and smiles and at least for Miss Bee very enthusiastic "Hello's" and "Hey there's". One day I will have to teach them about "stranger danger" but until then I will appreciate their friendliness.
6- Sweet Pea sitting in the middle of a pile of toys, juking and jiving to the music on the TV. She'll stop what she's doing to "boogie" then when the music changes or ends...back to playing without missing a beat.
7-Running in circles in the park is not only fun, but it makes you take a loooong nap. I let her run her "race" this morning after I walked the Heart & Sole 3 Miler. I needed the breather and she definitely needed to stretch her legs.
I Am Speaking English, Right?
The Cop and I went out to dinner tonight...just for the heck of it. We took both the girls and met up with BW and her 11 yo son.
I got to the restaurant first and feeling brave got the girls out of the van and made my way inside. I ask the hostess for, "A table for 6 ~ 2 of those highchairs please," while trying to hold Miss Bee's hand, keep my purse and diaper bag on my shoulder and not drop Sweet Pea (who weighs almost 22 pounds!).
The hostess replies, "Would a large booth be okay?"
Me: "No, we need a table please. With 2 high chairs."
Hostess: "Would a large booth be okay?"
Me: (more emphatically) "No. We need a table please. I need high chairs for both the children."
Hostess: "You can have 2 high chairs at a large booth."
[At this point I am seriously considering homicide AND trying to hold on to a 2 YO who really wants to check out a barrel full of peanuts.]
Me: "We have 2 more adults and another child coming! We need room for 2 high chairs and a booth will not do! I want a TABLE please!"
Hostess: (to the person standing next to her) "Can we put them at 124?"
Now you tell me...was I speaking English??? I'm guessing not since she never even tried to speak to me again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dinner was a blast. They must seat all the parties with children in the same area. There were 3 children in the booth to the left, 1 in the booth to the right and a couple with a baby in an infant carrier were seated 2 booths away right after we got there. Besides a few "happy baby" noises, you'd have never known there were that many children in the area!

I always giggle when they give us children's menus to color. Usually the crayons wind up being an appetizer for Miss Bee. Wonder of wonders, she actually colored with her crayons this trip. No red, yellow, blue or green wax to brush out of her teeth! She did eat honey mustard sauce with her fork...skipping the chicken I carefully cut up for her to dunk in it.

Sweet Pea gobbled her bananas and then drank her bottle all by herself! I handed it to her and she was able to hold it and down it all. Then of course she played with it and dropped it on the floor....heck she's only 10 months, what more could you expect? I snuck her a few tastes of mashed potatoes. I'm not sure if she liked it or not...I'm not sure she's sure if she liked it or not!

All in all eating out with my girls is becoming more and more fun! Remind me I said that if I gripe about it in the future!

Tracye, I promise this is not in response to your comment on yesterday's post! :D
